In 2023, COP is conducting the first-ever global stock take based on the commitments of the parties. FoSDA, a proactive voice of the sustainability data ecosystem, as part of COP28, is organising an off-the-record panel “Climate Data Stock Take – Reality Check on the State of Current Data” on 6 December in Dubai, UAE.
The panel will be composed of two insightful discussions that will assess the state of climate data and climate solutions, as well as examine the regulatory landscape around it.

Discussion 1: Navigating the regulatory landscape for climate data (4-4:45 PM)
This discussion will focus on the regulatory landscape surrounding climate data. As 2024 will see the transformation of ESG reporting with the swift rollout of mandatory disclosures, this panel will discuss the regulatory frameworks, issues of convergence and interoperability, developments around materiality and ESG rating regulations, as well as implications for data quality and reliability.

They will delve into the existing data gaps and holes and the ways to address them, as well as answer what should companies, data providers and users such as asset managers do to encourage honesty and transparency of data at all levels?
